Quality Boarding School

Having an adolescent who has behavioral troubles is really tough for any family; it especially becomes a lot trickier in case you can’t control them by yourself. For parents with a teen with behavioral disorders then you know exactly what I am referring to. My own 14 year-old daughter Shirley has got Attention deficit disorder that has consistently posed a problem in school, ever since she has started high school it seems to have gotten a lot worse.

We've employed tutors to help her keep up with her class and also have worked with the teachers to ensure that she is on track but yet she just appears to be really frustrated all the time about everything that we don’t know what to do. My husband and I looked at getting her attend a private school but a lot of them have been more than we could pay for and do not emphasize the things that she really needs assistance in. We also looked at boarding schools but some of the schools had been extremely pricey and additionally too far away from us.

Shirley is a wonderful teen but with the many rage concerns that she has been dealing with we’ve chosen to send her to a counselor. Her psychologist Elizabeth has been doing wonders with her but anytime Shirley encounters a concern either in class or with her buddies, she actually starts to lash out at her father and me and has even become physically violent at times.

We've already been following the guidelines that her psychologist provided us but they don’t appear to be working; on the contrary it makes Shirley angrier. Elizabeth proposed that we begin looking at boarding school that focus on behavioral troubles.

My hubby and I discussed our hesitancy around sending Shirley to a boarding school and Elizabeth suggested a number of local boarding schools, to ensure we could be close by just in case something happened and to also have the ability to work on Shirley’s difficulties with her.

All of us took a tour of a nearby boarding school that specializes in struggling adolescents with learning/cognitive issues. The employees were really friendly and inviting and we were impressed by how smoothly the school was running. Together with their regular school work the teens are expected to engage in social activates, do chores, and also have therapy sessions. The school has an on call staff so the teens would be taken care of by experienced professionals at all times. All of the personnel have had rigorous instruction on how to deal with the kids and are closely watched at all times.

We in addition sat down with a couple of the counselors on staff and were very impressed by their track records and also the alternative treatment methods, such as horse therapy, that they employ to assist the kids. Following the tour and also talking to a few of the parents my husband and I determined that this was the best place for our daughter for the moment.

It was hard at first and the workers told us , that not surprisingly Shirley lashed out for quite a while, but after the 1st month my husband and I (on the scheduled visits for family counseling ) began to see a significant difference in our teenager. She was being taught to properly handle her anger and frustration and was being helped in class. I am so thankful to this school and its staff, this decision was among the best we ever made and my daughter actually realizes it and she has thanked my husband and me for making this choice.
